  1. Asymptote 1.1 Demo

  3. This is the demonstration version of Asymptote 1.1, the professional Macintosh graph-processor designed for scientists and engineers.  Asymptote produces publication-quality graphs with a minimum of effort and can fully automate your graph-making with easy to create scripts.  Asymptote also supports advanced Macintosh features such as QuickTime and Publish & Subscribe.  Asymptote 1.1 adds support for general, non-linear least squares fitting and other new features.

This demo contains the Asymptote application, demo scripts, on-line help file, and a tutorial chapter from the Asymptote User's Guide.  Certain features of Asymptote have been disabled for this demonstration.  When you purchase Asymptote you will receive the fully functional version, a version optimized for Macintoshes with a math co-processor and the complete Asymptote User's Guide.  Asymptote is fully compatible with the PowerMac family of computers.  A native code version of Asymptote will be available Q4 1994.

  7. ¥ TO START THE DEMO: Double click the Asymptote Demo icon.
  8. After Asymptote loads it displays a window listing the various demos that are available.  Type the number of the demo you want to see or simply press return to see demo #1.

  10. ¥ TO SEE ANOTHER DEMO: Select "Run Recorder" from the "Script" menu.
  11. Asymptote displays the list of demos again.  Type the number of the next demo you'd like to see or press return to see the next demo in the sequence.

  13. ¥ TO EXPERIMENT ON YOUR OWN: If you have Microsoft Word, open and print the file "Chapter 4 - Getting Started" from the Asymptote User's Guide.  (If you don't have Microsoft Word, please contact Brains Software for a printed copy.)  This chapter takes you step-by-step through the creation of a simple graph.  Please keep in mind that to take advantage of Asymptote's features you would need the complete Asymptote User's Guide.  The answers to many of the questions you may have while running the demo are contained in the User's Guide.  If you have questions, try using Asymptote's on-line help facility (select Help from the Window menu) or contact Brains Software.  We'd be happy to answer your questions.

  15. ¥ TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT ASYMPTOTE: Read the file ABOUT_ASYMPTOTE or, if you have Microsoft Word, open the files "Brochure.WORD," "Version 1.1 Features.WORD," and "Examples.WORD" by double clicking them.  If you don't have Word, please contact us and we'll be happy to send you printed copies.

  18.    ± "Examples.WORD" contains several examples of Asymptote graphs.
  19.           Note: This is a very large file and may take several minutes to view and print.

  21. You may find it difficult to read these documents on screen, especially on Macintoshes with smaller monitors.  Try printing them and reading them on paper instead.
